My Review

4 Star ****

This is a thoroughly entertaining modern day fairytale with all the pomp and circumstance of a historical romance. Young Henry is a wild, devilishly handsome and fun loving royal who finds himself unwittingly cast into the role of Crown Prince. Boorish and unwilling to commit to the responsibility thrown at him, his grandmother and Queen banishes him to the country castle and tasks him to become better acquainted with the politics of Wessco. Instead he decides to make a game of his rakish ways. I loved the originality of this premise. The last thing you expect in a Royal romance is a reality TV game show. He has no real intention to find his future queen on the set but he does intent to have a randy time and enjoy playing his part. Can he make the girl and a country fall in love with him? It makes for light hearted fun peppered with a few poignant subjects such as PTSD, domestic violence and archaic laws. Most importantly it is a coming of age story. We get to watch a boy become a man and a man become a King.
