My Review
4 Stars****
Anders Ellis is an arse. A larger than life, egotistical, jackass. He’s also a handsome devil with a silver tongue and the hottest actor in Hollywood . With his steadfast love’em and leave’em mentality the fast lane suits him just fine. He has been burned once. Burned to the ground and he doesn’t need or want the complication of letting any one else too close. He lives his life on his terms, out in the open and his “what you see is what you get” way of living has made things simple in an industry where someone is always digging to find out your secrets… to profit from your pain.
Josie is an up and coming costume designer working on Anders’ latest film. She knows his reputation and a bad-boy and a one night stand is all she wants. So she seduces him and it is worth it. Now she can halt her non-stop fantasies and get back to work.
That was the plan… but you know what they say about the “best laid plans”… they often go awry. And boy did they go awry. Anders is not use to feeling anything for anyone and Josie pulls emotions from him he is not equipped to deal with. He tries. God bless him he really tries but the combination of his fear and his natural scathing personality keep thwarting his efforts. Add in a vindictive, jealous, scheming wanna be “it” girl and secrets from his past he is not willing to rehash or confide and things go from bad to okay to very bad to tentative to worse so quickly. Anders gives Josie whiplash with his contradicting words and actions. Can it ever work? Can a celebrity and a regular person ever have a normal relationship? Can you fight for each other when it seems like the entire world is fighting against you?
I was very impressed with this debut. The emotions of the characters really shown through the clever, witty banter. It was an angsty, sexy read and you find yourself really pulled between wanting to root for and strangle the hero and heroine. Add in the great secondary characters and you have a rich story with lots of tears and lots of laughs and in the end what more could you want?

“Josie, are you sure about this?” Madison sat on the bed, her face pinched with concern.
“Look, I know you’re worried. Christ, I want to throw up every time I think about what I’m doing. But…” Josie scooted onto the bed and turned to Madison. “I think about him, Maddie. I think about him a lot. And not all of those thoughts involve burying his body.” Josie laughed and looked at her hands. “The truth is, he makes me feel. I’ve dated, you know that, but the relationships always fizzle out, and that’s if there is even a spark to begin with. I thought it was me, you know? That I was the problem. Because it’s weird, right? That I’ve never fallen in love? I’ve barely even been in lust. I thought something was wrong with me. And shit, I’m not saying there isn’t, because of all the people who could make me feel that spark, it has to be the most impossible man in the world.”
“Josie, you’re not broken. You’re just, guarded. You…you don’t give yourself a chance.”
“Exactly, I’ve never cared enough to bother. But now, with this crazy, complicated, infuriating man, I want to. God help me, but I do. I don’t know where it will go. For all I know, it could just be a fluke—ridiculous sexual chemistry that fizzles out like the rest. Or I could end up really liking him and he could break me. Right now I can’t think that far ahead. I like him, but I’m also leery, and it’s still early enough that if I bail, or if he bails, I can walk away unscathed. I just, I need you to be there for me because I’m terrified and I need my best friend.”
Madison squeezed Josie’s hand and smiled. “Of course I’ve got your back. I’ll always be here for you, no matter what. Whatever you need—a shoulder, a shovel, or an alibi—you know I’m your girl.”
