All she wanted to do was forget. Forget the memory of walking in on her boyfriend in the middle of, well, another girl. Forget how she had her entire life planned out. And, forget about being perfect all the time. Unfortunately, she was Whitney Vandaveer and despite the fact that she moved to the middle of nowhere – she couldn't.

He always knew he would never be more than nothing. No job, no money, no future. Cole Pritchett had accepted the fact that he would always be the screw up and he was okay with it. Until he met her.

Here's the thing they quickly found out – sometimes we all need a little help escaping who we think we are.

My Review:

Ok when we first meet Whitney she is unconscious. What a great entrance… she’s such a diva. LOL Of course a hot, handsome, dark knight shows up to rescue her. My luck I’d be found by a stinky garbage man with a beer-gut and bad-breath who’s dying to give me mouth to mouth… but I digress. Seems Whitney has been out running off her stress and frustrations over finding her perfect boyfriend “Wesley the Weasel” in bed with some college slut. She is not so used to the southern heat and passes out. Cole comes along and is a little annoyed at have to save a crazy girl. He’s in town hiding… hiding from his mistakes and trying to just lay low and keep his infamous temper in check. He is not looking for any distractions especially not in the form of a high maintenance girl. He’s just got out of that situation back home and he’s licking wounds of his own.

This is a story of two people learning who they really are. Up until now they have been told who they are by others. Whitney is the perfect daughter of her high society father, going to the perfect college, dating the perfect boy and Cole is the troublemaker and black sheep that is never going to amount to anything. They both end up in town to escape the people they “are” for a while. Both have something to prove to themselves… their own self worth. Cole tried very hard to stay away from Whitney. Whitney doesn’t have to try too hard to change his mind though. What can it hurt to have a little fling right? I mean they both have to go back to their real lives at the end of the summer so why not have a little backwoods fun? Can they do that and not get their hearts all wrapped up in each other?

I love this book. It’s a little off the beaten path for Lee. She has grown so much as a author. This book grabbed me from page one and I was all in from the beginning.  She also turned up the heat this time around. This one is steamy guys *fans self*. That Cole Pritchett is drool worthy!  Nothing like a strong man who knows how to use his hands. I have to add that the secondary characters in this one are so well written and so entertaining they almost steal the show. Everyone will wish they had a mom and sister like Whitney. Leanne is a fabulous mother. She loves and supports her girls and her wisdom is tinged with a great sense of humor. Her baby sister Mallory is a hot mess. Wild and carefree and brazen. The exact opposite of Whit and they compliment each other so well. Cole’s co-worker and friend Zeke is a picture perfect laid back country boy.  I am so happy to know that Lee plans to bring this motley crew back together again for another installment.  I did not get enough of Cole and his tool…. Er I mean them all. ;)

Author Info:

Born and raised in the middle of a Midwestern cornfield (not literally, that would be weird), I’ve spent my entire life imagining stories. Stories where the right guy always gets the right girl, first kisses are as magical as they are on the big screen and anything is completely possible if you believe.

Although this journey began years ago, it recently took on a whole new life. After years of devouring hundreds of Romance, YA and New Adult novels, I had an epiphany... I should write a book. And I did it!

If I’m not reading, writing, enjoying drinks with my amazing group of girlfriends or chasing around a sarcastically funny kid, I’m probably watching television shows that were created for teenagers, while my husband teases that I’m too old to watch them.
