*Warning: This book contains several aspects of the uglier side of life; it is not for everyone.*
The story of Ripper and Danny.
The first time I fell in love it was with a pair of blue eyes and a wide dimpled grin.
“Your old man loves ya, Danny girl,” He whispered. “You never ever forget that, yeah?”
I never did. And I never thought I could ever love any man as much as I loved my father. But as we grow, we change, we begin to make our own decisions and thus become independent and self sufficient and start turning away from our parents and turning to others. We form friendships, strong bonds and ties and begin experiencing life outside of the bubble we grew up inside of.
And we fall in love…a second time.
The second time I fell in love it was with a badly scarred face, the stuff of nightmares; the sort of disfigurement that mothers steer their children away from. Ugly, jagged slashes marred the skin from the top of his skull, down over his right eye, an eye that had been dug out of his face with a serrated blade. The scars continued across his cheek, over his lips and down his neck, ending at the top of his shoulder. His chest was a hundred times worse; scar tissue as far as the eye could see.
“Baby,” He said gruffly, “Man like me got no business with a girl like you. You’re nothin’ but fuckin’ beauty and I’m a whole lot of fuckin’ ugly who’s already halfway to hell.”
But he was wrong.
Everything has beauty. Even the ugly. Especially the ugly.
Because without ugly there would be no beauty.
Because without beauty we would not survive our pain, our sorrow, and our suffering.
And in the world I lived in, the world he lived in, a secret world within the world, a world of of constant crime and cruel, cold, death, there was almost nothing but suffering.
“You may not be beautiful the way you were before,” I whispered, cupping his ruined cheek. “But you’re still beautiful. To me.”

Welcome To The Club
Hello my Crazy Little Book Fiends!
Welcome to the inaugural post for the new GTBC Blog. I am very excited to get the blog launched and to start interacting with you all. I am new to Blogger and have been trying to learn the ins & outs so that I can run a fun and easy blog for our club members. As you know Facebook has become very strict on their Giveaway Policy so I am going LIVE here a little sooner than expected so please be patient with me. Here are a few things you can expect on this blog:
1.) Book Info: Release dates, Covers, Synopsis’, Teasers, ETC… I will do my best to keep you informed on the status of all your favorite books.
2.) Author Info: I will be letting you know everything from author’s official websites to appearances & signing schedules.
3.) Reviews: I will be posting links to my book reviews to help you navigate which books are worth the read.
4.) Giveaways & Contests: I have lots of swags, signed books & gifts to share with you all. All of our future contest will be hosted here. I will still keep you all informed via FB & Twitter, but to make sure you don’t miss any of the fun be sure to subscribe to this blog for updates.
5.) Local GTBC Info: Our book club is open to anyone anywhere. We have certainly grown from our small group of 24 to over 600 members. I am so proud of our little book club that could. We are keeping with our tradition of having local meetings for our local members who meet once a month and enjoy food, wine and discussions on the book selection of the month. I will be posting dates, locations, wine selections, books of the month, etc for these meetings here as well. This is for members in the greater Charlotte , NC area and is open to anyone interested in making new friends with the same passion for reading.
Ok so there you have it in a nutshell. I am just a wife and career woman with a full-time reading addiction that loves to share her passion with others. I hope you enjoy the page and that you find it helpful and fun! Welcome to the madness ;)
WARNING: I am an autocorrect nightmare on mobile devices. I will do my best to make sure all my post are at least coherent … but there will definitely be typos and misspellings in my haste so please understand that I am not always intoxicated when posting (sometimes but not always) and I am most likely just overly excited ;)
SO LETS DO OUR FIRST CONTEST SHALL WE >>>> Ok here is how it works. Just subscribe to this blog and leave me a comment of encouragement below (shamelessly asking) to let me know we are in this together (include your email address) and you are entered to win a $25 Amazon or B&N Giftcard (winners choice) and a little GTBC Swag. I will let Random(dot)org choose our winner Sunday Night (April 7th). NOTE: If you send someone our way and they comment that you sent them… you will get an extra entry. GOOD LUCK!
