My Review:
4 stars ****
"Fantasized by You" is a light hearted romance and the second book in this series. It can be read as a standalone without any trouble. In this series each installment centers around and brings conclusion to the focal couple in a central group of friends & family, therefore it can be read out of order with ease.

This installment centers around Harper Jennings (aka THE Jen Harper). She is a high-end fashion designer and pseudo celebrity due to her famous clientele and her close friendship with one of her former models turned latest Hollywood action star. She hates all of the media and tabloid attention and deals with the stress in a very unhealthy way which leads her right into in path of Maverick Jones. Maverick is a successful personal trainer and gym owner who focuses on physical health. When a close friend dies from an unhealthy lifestyle while he is unable to help, he starts to focus on the mental side of health as well and incorporates a clinic in to his gym that offers medical services, therapy and counseling to clients with more intensive health needs. Maverick is one of the good guys. A man with a heart as big as his muscles and his wallet. When his friend Elly suggests that Maverick consider bringing Harper on as a counselor at the clinic he instantly refuses. He knows who Jen Harper is and he doesn't like or trust anyone in the Fashion Industry. A industry notorious for promoting "ideal beauty" over health and wellbeing and often pushing their models into the dangerous situations that he is fighting so hard to help woman overcome. He has no idea what Harper has lived through or overcome herself. She understands and can help his clients in a way that he never could. So he reluctantly agrees to give her a chance... a chance at the clinic leads to a chance at his heart.

Okay I called this book a "light romance" because it IS light on the romance end. Maverick and Harper's relationship advances very easily and somewhat predictably. I love the honest, respectful and adult way they both approach every situation they find themselves in. It's a grown up romance from the very beginnning. This is not an angsty read in the least and honestly I didn't feel it needed angst to keep me engaged. The "meat" of this book is in it's dealing with a few heavy issues. Eating Disorders and Stalking to be precise. In the case of Harper Jennings these subjects intertwine in her life. Both scary. Both heavy. I liked how Steph Nuss addressed them in a manner that didn't bring the story down to a despressive state yet she managed to convey the seriousness and very real dangers of both. Weaving these in and still peppering the story with sweet lovable moments and humorous dialog from the tight knit group of characters made it a very balanced and rich story. I look forward to seeing where Ms. Nuss takes us in the next book... I hope it is Fletcher's *fingers-crossed*

Excerpt
In an instant, he’s crouched down in front of me, hands spreading me open wider before dipping his tongue inside me. I continue massaging myself as he laps me up like I’m the only one who can quench his thirst. He sickens me, and as soon as I feel the swirl of hate manifest, I turn every part of me off and simply go through the movements I know he likes. I’m a well-oiled machine at this point, flawless in my performance. He has no idea that I’m the poison in his bones, making my home in his soul. I’ve crept under his skin, and he never suspected a thing other than everything I’ve wanted him to, but he’s made my life a hell, and payback is a wicked bitch that comes in the form of me. I’m the devil seeped within the cracks of him. What he doesn’t know is that it’s because of him that I am what I am, and he’s fallen into the cobwebs of my lies like a fool. I guess I should love him for that, because when he least suspects it, he’s going to give me everything I’ve been seeking— vengeance.

Review
 5 Star ****

This was not what I was expecting at all. This was pure unadulterated animalistic alpha obsession to the "nth" power.  It's a twisted love story based on the preface of revenge. I've never experienced a book with depravation of this magnitude.  It was phenomenal. You know when you're reading a book and you think you've got it figured out; hell no, not going to happen with this book. This book twists and turns like I don't know what - I don't have a strong enough analogy for this one.

Elizabeth was a little girl who lost her whole world at 5 years old. She grew up witnessing and experiencing heinous acts of violence and torture. Pike became her surrogate brother, best friend, protector, and lover. WHAT?!?!?!? Yes ma'am that's what I said. After years of hurt and torture Pike takes Elizabeth away and they try to start anew and emerge as someone new altogether.

Nina is an elite socialite with a vendetta for a certain man, Bennett Vanderwal who happens to be her husband. Pain and hurt will drive some people completely mad. And when pushed to the brink it can cause irreparable damage . She has one goal in life. To make him pay. Make him pay for all the wrongs done to her growing up as Elizabeth. But will she make him pay? Will she get her revenge?

She plays her cards right and finds her con to help finalize her revenge. She marks DeClan McKinnon as her scape goat, her patsy, her mark. Not so sure she thought this one out. Declan - he's a beast! He is 100% alpha animalistic possessor of all things Nina. He likes control. He will always be 1st no matter the situation. He is filthy mouthed and sexy as hell. He's perverted but sensual. He leaves his mark on his property. That thin line between love and hate is so blurry at times and even though you think you're walking one side of it chances are you're straddling that line.

Would you be able to give up all that hate, darkness, and bitterness for one chance at happily ever after? You probably would if you didn't have that little devil on your shoulder egging you on to continue on your downward spiral of hate and revenge. That's what Pike is to Elizabeth. He's her savior, protector, lover, devil. He encourages the hate and the atrocious thoughts. He doesn't want her to live a good life. He wants her to be just as dirty as he is.

Who wins out? Good over Evil? Can anyone win a game of deceit as deep as this one is? Will she ever get that elusive happiness of revenge? Is she deserving of a happy ever after? Or is the darkness just too much to bear.

The ending is a complete screw with your mind and leaves you contemplating the next book in the series. I THINK I know how it ended. So I know what I want Echo (book2) to be about but guys and gals, I'm stumped.

It's a great blow your mind read. I could not put it down. I am still recovering from this one! Please read and let's discuss because I need to know everyone is reeling in much the same way I am.

Spotlight & Review: "Flat-Out Celeste" by Jessica Park

Title: Flat-Out Celeste (Flat-Out Love #3)
Author: Jessica Park
Release: May 22, 2014

Synopsis

Whether you were charmed by Celeste in Flat-Out Love or are meeting her for the first time, this book is a joyous celebration of differences, about battling private wars that rage in our heads and in our hearts, and—very much so— this is a story about first love.

For high-school senior Celeste Watkins, every day is a brutal test of bravery. And Celeste is scared. Alienated because she’s too smart, her speech too affected, her social skills too far outside the norm, she seems to have no choice but to retreat into isolation.

But college could set her free, right? If she can make it through this grueling senior year, then maybe. If she can just find that one person to throw her a lifeline, then maybe, just maybe.

Justin Milano, a college sophomore with his own set of quirks, could be that person to pull her from a world of solitude. To rescue her—that is, if she’ll let him.

Together, they may work. Together, they may save each other. And together they may also save another couple—two people Celeste knows are absolutely, positively flat-out in love.

My Review
5 Stars *****

Let me start off by saying I loved Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park. It was one of those books that so profoundly impacted me. I have shouted it from the rooftops and suggested it to anyone who would listen. Some books just need to be read by EVERYONE. Flat-Out Celeste has been added to that list for me.

Celeste Watkins is still the quirky, damaged girl we met in FOL. Although she has made strides in opening up her world, and Flat Finn is securely tucked away in the attic, she is still that socially awkward, matter-of-fact, and brutally honest person that we know and love. High school has not been easy for her. She tries very hard to keep a facade up for her family, but her life is anything but that of a typical teen. The other students think she is strange and they avoid her, so in turn she focuses solely on her academics and keeps to herself. Completely alienated. It is a lonely life. Matt tries so hard to bring her out of her shell but he is dealing with his own heartache and his own studies. Celeste believes that she just needs to hold on until college. College will be the place where she will finally feel at home. Where academics will be the common denominator and she will excel without any social pressures (obviously she has a very skewed idea of college life). Excited at this prospect she very aptly applies to all the Ivy League schools and receives early acceptance letters. Now she only has to decide which one to attend and her plans will fall into place. Enter Justin... he is a student recruiter for Barton College in San Diego, CA. He has been given the task of wooing the talented Miss Watkins into considering Barton at the suggestion of one of her teachers who is an alumni. There are a few problems with that, it's all the way in California and Celeste doesn't fly and she never applied to Barton. None of that discourages Justin especially once he meets Celeste. Quirky in his own right and with a vast understanding of what it is like to be different; Justin is just what Celeste needs. He somehow puts Celeste at ease like no one else ever has. He helps her to see that being different isn't such a bad thing and that it is more than okay to be who she is without having to change for anyone. Can she let down the walls she has built? Is she brave enough to step out of her comfort zone and give people a chance to know and love her?

Well let me say WOW. WOW WOW WOW! The message in this book is so powerful. There is ABOSLUTELY nothing wrong with being different! Did you hear that????? NOTHING! Whether it be your appearance, your sexual orientation, your family situation, your stutter, your propensity to over annunciate, your disability, your love for piercings or body art... whatever you are is perfectly okay and YOU ARE PERFECT and WORTHY OF LOVE just the way you are. Period. My mother use to tell me "There is someone for everyone" and that is so true. There is someone out their that will find all that you are endearing. You just have to love yourself first. We are all guilty of rushing through life looking right over people. Never looking any deeper than the surface. Just like a book we judge them by their cover and not by their content. We miss the enchanting part of them. Shame on us... we are the ones who miss out.

Our Celeste is the opposite of that. She judges no one. She doesn't see anyone’s flaws when she looks at them even when they look back at her with judgment. I have loved her since book #1 and my love for her only grew in this one. Thank you Jessica Park for writing this series. Thank you for giving us a life lesson and study of ourselves in such a beautifully written story. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Fun Fact: I read Celeste in a proper British accent and I think she would appreciate that.

Favorite Quotes: (there are too many I highlighted to include them all so I'll pick four)

"I had expected the turnip metaphor to go over better, but it seems not everyone appreciates a clever philosophically grounded root vegetable reference."

"Why would you being who you are bother me?"

"It will be lovely to see you again. I have missed you, and I don't have occasion to miss many people"

"today is about bravery"
